For the festival, I was involved in managing the "Black Wolf Stage". This was the main stage for the festival and had multiple groups performing, this included bands, comedians, and performers. This introduced me to a new aspect of live sound which is mixing a band and multiple instruments. This is also where I used an analog board for the first time.
One of the bands I had to mix was Rota Temporis, an Italian medieval folk band. This band was very base-heavy with multiple massive drums. They also had 2 bagpipes, which made for an interesting sound. Overall this was an interesting challenge to find how to mix them since it was a strange combination of instruments.
The board we were using at the Black Wolf Stage was this 28-channel Allen & Heath GL2400 board. This board apparently survived being dunked in mud during a really bad rainstorm but as a result of that some of the controls were still gummed up. Before this show, I had only ever used my school's very digital 32-channel Yamaha TF5. This meant I had to take everything I'd learned from that board and understand that all the knobs of the A&H board did the same thing.
