My junior year of high school, the senior class was doing "Chicago the Musical". I was in charge of running all the wireless systems for the microphones, setting up any monitors and extra speakers needed for the show, and ensuring our equipment was in a good condition for the show to operate smoothly.
This meant setting up and managing our 14 wireless receivers during every rehearsal and 3 show days. This was challenging because our tower has 2 kinds of receivers in it, I could only use the 470-534 MHz band receivers instead of the older 632-696 MHz ones we had. This meant I had to be creative and find a way to use the 14 mics the director wanted.
I also installed monitors up stage at each corner for the actors to better hear their cues. This meant reversing the sends from the booth to the stage and having them as an auxiliary output. This was made easier due to my board's custom fader layout which let me always control the levels instead of going to it manually.
Another aspect of this show I was involved in was convincing our director and technical director to purchase new microphones. Our older mics were breaking and random with no 2 mics being the same. I found out this local theater company I volunteered at used Shure WL93 hairline mics and got her to buy 12 of them.
