During high school, I was involved in acquiring and installing new equipment to replace old microphones, antennas, etc.

During my junior year, I was told to seek out replacements for our aging lav mics. They needed to be replaced due to many years of improper storage and never being cleaned. I asked at a theater where I volunteered, and they recommended the Shure WL93 hairline mics. We purchased 12 of them, and they've worked without issues since.

Earlier this year my teacher gave me the task of upgrading our wireless system. Initially, I purchased 2 Shure UA874 directional antennas and tried to set them up suspended above the stage pointing down at the actors. This did not work well as the receivers were not properly connected to the antennas. Later at a gig, I got the opportunity to ask about RF systems and I received a ton of information and possible solutions. Using that information I was able to properly set up the receivers and actually place the UA874s in good locations where they have been picking up in the entire auditorium without issues, so far.

My teacher purchased a new Shure ULXD4Q to add to our receiver system and told me to install it. I took the opportunity to label the receivers with spike tape and to place them in order D4Qs at the top and D4Ds at the bottom.
